Data Visualization / Report Design

A medical software client needed to effectively present data to physicians on the ongoing operational performance of their medical practices. I designed a report template targeting this unique audience. By using visual conventions typically found in wealth management reports, a sense of familiarity and credible affiliation was achieved while communicating the importance and timeliness of the dataset. By rethinking how performance data could be visually communicated, this time-starved and data-insensitive audience could more intuitively grasp the relevance of the information. To achieve this, I incorporated a series of visualization concepts, including thresholding, small multiples, and conditional formatting. I recruited a team to physicially construct and deploy this design as a dynamic reporting solution using the Perl template toolkit, SVG (for vector-based data presentation) and CSS / tableless layouts. Here's a mockup of my original design.
